Yikes! Dismounting a camel can be precarious!

This is the third in a series of three camel-themed paintings from our family’s visit to Wadi Rum, Jordan in January 2020. Featured in the painting are my brother-in-law, Ethan Golf (the one hanging on for dear life as his camel is preparing for Ethan’s dismount), along with his daughter Gabrielle and his son Nathaniel. The Bedouin camel handler has his back to the viewer and our Jordanian tour guide Kareem is on the far right. Ethan’s wife Brenda and their daughter Allison had already dismounted their

camels and are out of view. I must say that I most definitely am not biased and that both of our nieces are truly beautiful, inside and out. Thus, Gabrielle’s alarmed expression in my painting does not do justice to her normal lovely appearance.
This is a complicated scene with a lot of people, animals and scenery and it was quite an interesting challenge for me. In terms of chronology, the photo on which this painting was based actually was taken before the other two and the photo for the first painting was shot last.
