We visited Israel with family in early January 2020 shortly before the Covid-19 global pandemic was declared and restricted travel as well as life in general. The Old City of Jaffa is known as the oldest seaport in the world, with ancient records documenting its existence for more than 4,000 years. Jaffa now is one of the trendy neighborhoods of Tel Aviv. It is multiethnic (Muslims, Christians and Jews) and, after major renovations, it is an artist colony with its beautifully charming ancient buildings being used as art galleries, shops, restaurants, cafes, theaters, bars and nightclubs. The location depicted in the painting is a restaurant, but we were there during the daytime and it was not open at the time. I took some artistic license and left out the HVAC equipment while putting in more flowers than were blooming then, but the kitty really was there!
